The useful question after a miss is what you will do differently on the next problem.
Before reading the explanation, write the step you took and the reason you chose your answer. Separate a knowledge gap from a reading error, arithmetic slip or rushed decision. A label helps only if it names something you can change.
Read the correct explanation and compare it with your route. Identify the exact sentence, relationship or calculation that rules out your answer. Then close the explanation and solve the problem again.
A correct second attempt can reflect memory of the answer. Choose another problem using the same skill. If you can explain your method on that problem, you have stronger evidence that the lesson transferred.
Put the skill into a later review session. Mix it with other skills so you must decide which method to use. Keep a short record of the error, the correction and your next check.
